Residents in Sherwood Park, Alberta, can now access their new 2026-2027 waste collection calendars to stay on top of their garbage and recycling dates. Strathcona County has made the digital version available for download, and physical copies are being delivered to homes by Canada Post through early March 2026.
The new calendar helps people plan for the upcoming year, including the weekly green bin collection for organics that runs from mid-May to mid-October. Collection days are fixed, meaning if a pickup is set for a Monday, it will always happen on Monday even during most holidays. The only times this timing changes are if a collection day falls on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day.
To help avoid missed pickups, residents can use the Strathcona County Waste mobile app to set automatic reminders. The app, which uses technology from ReCollect, also allows users to search for specific items to see exactly how they should be thrown away.
The county continues to use the Sort and Save program, which lets households choose between two different sizes of black garbage carts to manage their costs. By picking a 120-litre or 240-litre bin, residents can directly impact their monthly utility bills. This system is part of the Green Routine program run by Strathcona County Utilities to keep the community clean.
