Families in Sherwood Park can prepare for the upcoming cycling season at the annual Kids Bike Rodeo and Safety Fair, held on Saturday, May 9, 2026. The free event takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Strathcona Athletic Park, located at 1100 Cloverbar Rd.
Organized by the Strathcona County RCMP and Strathcona County Enforcement Services, the day is designed to teach children essential cycling skills and promote road safety awareness. Families are encouraged to bring their own bicycles and helmets to participate in the hands-on activities.
The event features a bike obstacle course set up in the outdoor rink, along with a skills course led by members of the RCMP and Enforcement Services Bike Patrol Unit. Local shop Mud, Sweat and Gears will also be on-site to provide bicycle inspections and helmet fittings.
Beyond cycling activities, the day includes entertainment and food for attendees. Enbridge is hosting a complimentary barbecue while supplies last, and families can enjoy cotton candy, popcorn, and face painting. Additionally, the RCMP Police Dog Service will hold demonstrations on the track and field area at noon and 2 p.m., with bleacher seating available for spectators.
The fair aims to build connections between residents and local first responders. Several community organizations will have informational booths available throughout the afternoon.
