Sherwood Park residents looking for work with Strathcona County have until the end of July and early August to apply for 10 open positions across departments such as emergency services, transit, and finance. The opportunities come as the municipality, named one of Canada’s Best Employers by Forbes and one of Alberta’s Top 85 Employers for 2026, continues to grow its workforce.
The available roles include an Emergency Telecommunications Operator closing on July 22, a variety of permanent positions closing July 27 like Transit Service Delivery Supervisor, Work Order Management Technologist, and W & WW Transmission Leadhand, and an Advanced Care Paramedic Firefighter position closing August 2. Other opportunities include a Supervisor of Financial Partnerships and Operations closing July 30, and several roles closing August 4 such as an Oracle ERP Analyst, File Room Clerk, Facility Maintenance Operator III, and Development Compliance and Advisory Services Coordinator.
The hiring push reflects Strathcona County’s expanding community. The 2024 municipal census recorded 103,829 residents, a 3.5 percent jump from 2022, making it Alberta’s fifth-largest municipality. The county already employs over 2,500 people and is seeking to fill positions key to serving its growing population.

Every day, County employees bring skill, compassion and a can-do spirit to serving residents, and it shows.”
Strathcona County Emergency Services operates under a fully integrated model where members are trained as both firefighters and paramedics, a factor that influences their recruitment for roles like Advanced Care Paramedic Firefighter. The county was also recognized with a 2024 Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators award for its People Plan, which focuses on building a supportive workplace.
