The annual Pitch-In community cleanup initiative in Strathcona County wrapped up on May 3, 2026, marking the end of a two-week effort to clear litter from local parks, trails, and green spaces.
This year’s program, which ran from April 20 to May 3, was sponsored by TransMountain. The initiative encourages residents to take pride in their community by removing waste that accumulated over the winter months, helping to maintain a healthier local environment.
Participants who collected litter are asked to report their results to the Strathcona County Recreation, Parks and Culture department. Residents can call 780-467-2211 or email [email protected] to provide the number of bags collected and the specific locations where the bags were left for pickup. This reporting process allows county crews to efficiently collect the waste and helps officials track the overall contribution of volunteers.
The event builds on a strong history of volunteerism in the region. During the 2025 campaign, more than 1,200 volunteers contributed over 1,000 hours of service to beautify the area. Whether working individually or as part of a group, residents play a vital role in supporting the county’s environmental stewardship goals.
