The Strathcona County Council has scheduled six public hearings for April 21, 2026, to address a variety of land use and planning matters in Sherwood Park. These meetings will be held at County Hall, located at 2001 Sherwood Drive.
Five of the hearings are set to begin concurrently at 9:00 a.m. These include discussions on amendments to the Municipal Development Plan and the Land Use Bylaw, as well as a proposal for the closure of an undeveloped road allowance. A sixth hearing regarding a separate Land Use Bylaw amendment is set for 11:00 a.m. These proceedings are part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to manage growth across the region, which is home to 103,829 residents according to the 2024 municipal census.
Residents who wish to provide input may attend the hearings in person or join remotely via the internet. Those planning to speak remotely must register by 4:00 p.m. on April 20, 2026. Anyone wishing to submit written feedback must ensure it reaches the Municipal Clerk’s Office by 12:00 noon on April 20, 2026.
The council is led by Mayor Rod Frank, who is serving his third term following his re-election in October 2025. He works alongside eight Ward Councillors to represent the needs of both the urban Sherwood Park area and the surrounding rural communities. While public hearings are typically held during regular council meetings in the evening, this specific session has been organized to accommodate the volume of planning items currently under review.
