The Town of Sidney, B.C., is moving garbage and kitchen organics pickups scheduled for Thursday, December 25, 2025, to Friday, December 26, and those scheduled for Thursday, January 1, 2026, to Friday, January 2 to observe the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
Residents must place their 80-litre garbage can or bag (maximum 20 kg) and their 60-litre organics container at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the rescheduled Friday dates, according to the Town of Sidney’s garbage and organics collection page.
The Town’s contractor, Emterra Environmental, will carry out the shifted collection. Households with missed pickups can call Emterra at 250-385-4399 (extension 0) or visit Emterra’s customer service page for assistance.
Because Friday service areas will include both the normal Friday route and the holiday shift, crews may be busier than usual; residents should expect possible delays and report missed collections to Emterra so they can be addressed.
Blue Box recycling follows the Capital Regional District’s schedule and will be picked up on the following Saturdays rather than Friday: recycling scheduled for Dec. 25, 2025, will be collected on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025; recycling scheduled for Jan. 1, 2026, will be collected on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026. The CRD asks residents to have their recyclables at the curb by 7:30 a.m. Residents with both services are advised to check each schedule to avoid missed collections.
