Barrie police have charged three teenagers in connection with an armed robbery investigation at Maple Ridge Secondary School, which ocurred on February 2, 2026.
Officers responded to the school, located on Prince William Way, shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Monday, following reports of the incident. Upon arrival, the school was placed into lockdown while police conducted an immediate investigation.
According to a media release, three individuals—ages 15, 16, and 17—were arrested at the scene. Investigators recovered a handgun during the process. The identities of the accused are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Two of the males face numerous charges, including robbery using a restricted or prohibited firearm, pointing a firearm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The third male has been charged with possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition and possession of a prohibited device or ammunition.
Following the initial response, the school was transitioned to a “hold and secure” status at approximately 1 p.m. to allow for a further search of the premises. Students were dismissed at their regular time without further incident.
Barrie police have stated that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
