The Slave Lake and District Chamber of Commerce has confirmed the dates for Riverboat Daze 2026, giving residents plenty of time to plan for one of northern Alberta’s biggest summer festivals. The annual celebration runs from July 3 to 5 and marks more than 50 years of community tradition in Slave Lake.
This year’s festival brings back the crowd favourites that have made Riverboat Daze a local staple. The weekend typically kicks off with a parade through downtown streets, followed by carnival rides, live music performances, and a fireworks display. Food trucks will line the festival grounds, and there will be dedicated children’s activities and a market featuring local craft vendors.
As the Lakeside Leader has noted, Riverboat Daze celebrates the main mode of transportation in the early days, referencing the riverboats that once carried settlers and supplies through the region before railways arrived. The event’s name and theme honour that history while delivering a modern family friendly weekend. Advance tickets for the 2025 edition were $40, with gate admission at $50, and similar pricing is expected this year.
Past festivals have drawn huge crowds. The 2019 Block Party alone attracted more than 3,000 people in a community of roughly 6,800. Updates on the full schedule are expected to be posted on the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River’s community calendar, where families can map out which events to attend.
