All schools serving the Southampton, New Brunswick, area are closed today (Monday, January 26, 2026) as part of a broader Anglophone School District West (ASD‑W) closure of weather zones 3–9 due to hazardous road conditions from a winter storm. The ASD‑W Alerts Dashboard confirmed that schools in the affected zones will not hold in-person classes today.

The closure affects the Nackawic school cluster and suspends all busing in the affected zones for the day. Nackawic Middle School said on its official social media (X) that the shutdown includes the cancellation of all after‑school activities and community use of school buildings.

Superintendent David McTimoney and district leaders made the decision early Monday after reviewing road reports from the New Brunswick Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DTI). Families are being asked to keep children at home while the district prioritizes safety amid the winter storm.

For official updates and a list of affected zones and schools, see the ASD‑W Alerts Dashboard.
