Spruce Grove, Alberta, saw a record number of people using public transportation in 2025, with more than 237,000 riders using the transit system. This milestone, which was reported on February 25, 2026, shows that more residents are choosing buses to get around the community.

Out of the total ridership, 72,456 trips were made using the local on-demand service. This system allows passengers to book rides between specific bus stops instead of waiting for a bus that follows a set route.

The service is managed by Spruce Grove Transit as part of a regional partnership between the City of Spruce Grove, the Town of Stony Plain, and Parkland County. This agreement makes it easier for residents to travel between the three communities using a single system.

Local officials noted that the record-breaking numbers show a growing trust in the region’s transportation options. The success of the on-demand service suggests that flexible travel choices are meeting the needs of local residents.
