The Parkland School Division Board of Trustees approved a plan on March 10, 2026, to make a new K-9 school on the east side of Spruce Grove, Alberta, its top building priority. This project is meant to help the school system keep up with the fast-growing number of families moving into the eastern part of the city.

The board listed the new school as the main goal for the 2026-2027 budget year with an estimated price tag of $32 million. This building project is the lead item in a three-year plan that the division submits to the provincial government to secure the money needed for construction.

This is not the first time the school has been requested, as the division has included a new K-9 school for the east side in its capital plans since 2022. While the local board has officially made it a priority, the project still needs final approval and funding from Alberta Education before any work can begin.

The proposal follows reports from division staff, including Director of Facilities Serge LaBrie and Acting Superintendent Mark Francis, regarding local growth and budget needs. Families in the area are encouraged to watch for future updates on whether the provincial government provides the $32 million to start the project.
