The Spruce Grove, Alberta, community has raised more than $70,000 to help provide fresh groceries for residents in need. As of February 25, 2026, the local Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser reached a total of $70,650, which has already surpassed the original goal.
The money will help the Parkland Food Bank Society continue to buy fresh items like eggs, dairy, and vegetables for its monthly grocery distributions. these groceries help families in the local area, including those living in Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, and Parkland County.
So far, 146 walkers and 34 teams have signed up to take part in the fundraiser. One group, called Team Awesomeness Century Estates/Gates, has raised $15,195, while Mayor Jeff Acker is leading a team called the Spruce Grove Council Snow Squad.
The food bank currently provides about $240,000 worth of food every month to help people in the community. This support reaches approximately 2,400 individuals each month, and nearly 1,000 of them are children.
The main fundraising walk is set for Saturday, February 28, 2026, starting at Columbus Park. There are 43 volunteers helping to organize the final walk, which will raise even more funds for the food bank.
