On February 28, 2026, the Spruce Grove, Alberta, community raised $87,827 during the Coldest Night of the Year walk to help feed local families. This total was 25 percent higher than the event’s original $70,000 goal.
The Parkland Food Bank Society will use the money to buy fresh eggs and produce for the rest of 2026. The event was held at Columbus Park and included 185 walkers, 35 teams, and 44 volunteers who helped organize the local effort.
The food bank currently supports about 2,400 local residents every month, including 960 children. These funds help ensure that families receive fresh, healthy groceries instead of only non-perishable items like canned or boxed goods.
The top fundraising group, Team Awesomeness Century Estates/Gates, raised over $17,300, while the lead sponsor for the walk was Armour Galvanizing Ltd. Other participants included a team from ATB Financial and a group of local officials led by Mayor Jeff Acker.
