The Parkland Food Bank has released the official route maps and safety rules for its annual Coldest Night of the Year winter fundraiser walk taking place on February 28, 2026, in Spruce Grove, Alberta. The event aims to raise money for local food programs and to support the food bank’s plans for a larger facility.

Organizers have set two paths for the event — a two‑kilometre and a five‑kilometre route — that will both start and end at Columbus Park (116 Main St, Spruce Grove). The walk currently lists 103 registered participants and will utilize the city’s paved, all‑weather trail network associated with Heritage Grove Park.

The food bank shared new safety rules for the walk, including a requirement that children 12 and under must stay with a parent or guardian. To keep the narrow trails safe for everyone, pets are not permitted on the walk except for approved and trained service animals.

Walkers who raise at least $150, or $75 for those under 18, will receive a CNOY winter toque to wear during the fundraiser. Money raised from the event helps the Parkland Food Bank provide food hampers to local families and supports the organization’s ongoing capital and facility planning.

Check‑in for the walk starts at 4:00 PM on February 28, 2026; participants are asked to gather for opening remarks at 4:45 PM, with the send‑off scheduled for 5:00 PM. Route marshals, volunteers, and signage will be stationed along the paths to guide walkers through the city trails.
