The Manitoba government will present its 2026-27 provincial budget on March 24, 2026, which is expected to outline spending for schools, health care, and transportation in St. Theresa Point, Manitoba. Finance Minister Adrien Sala announced the date this week, highlighting plans that will affect northern communities.

Education and Early Childhood Minister Tracy Schmidt recently announced a $79.8 million increase for schools. This brings the total provincial investment to nearly $2 billion for the upcoming school year.

To help with high costs in remote areas, Premier Wab Kinew launched a study to look into grocery prices. The goal of the study is to stop unfair pricing and make food more affordable for families living in northern fly-in communities.

The province is also starting the Manitoba Crown-Indigenous Corporation to handle large northern projects. This group will lead work on the Churchill Plus trade corridor to improve how goods and supplies move through the region.

Health officials are also monitoring a measles outbreak that has seen widespread spread in southern parts of the province. The upcoming budget will help decide how much money is available for local health services and community programs in the coming year.
