Youth from St. Theresa Point, Manitoba, have a new chance to play competitive sports as registration opens for the 2026 Storm Ball Hockey program. The Manitoba Aboriginal Sports and Recreation Council (MASRC) is organizing the initiative to help local players join teams in a city-based league this spring.
The program places participants into the Manitoba Minor Ball Hockey League (MMBHL) for the upcoming season. Games are set to take place between May and June 2026, giving young athletes the opportunity to compete against other teams in organized matches and gain experience in a new team sport.
Registration is open from March 3, 2026, until March 31, 2026, for co-ed players in two specific age groups. The teams are available for U13 players born in 2013 or 2014, as well as U15 players born in 2011 or 2012. The cost to join the program is $75.00 for each player.
This initiative is part of an effort to help youth from communities like St. Theresa Point access competitive sports and develop healthy lifestyle habits. By creating these teams, the sports council helps lower barriers that often make it difficult for youth from remote areas to join organized city leagues.
Gini Hyatt, the Sport for Social Development Program Leader at MASRC, is the primary contact for families looking for more information about the program. Parents can reach out to the council to learn more about how to register their children before the March deadline.
