Island Lake First Nations Family Services is hosting a two-day workshop on February 20 and February 23, 2026, to help youth and young adults from the Island Lake First Nations manage their emotions. The sessions will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at 103-1821 Wellington Ave in Winnipeg.

The program, called Young Warrior: How to Play with Your Feelings, is open to individuals between the ages of 15 and 24. It is specifically designed for those who are currently connected to the child welfare system through statuses such as Child in Care (CIC), Agreement with Young Adult (AYA), Support for Young Adult (SYA), Family Enhancement (FE), or Family Support (FS).

During the workshop, participants will learn practical tools to understand their feelings and find healthy, respectful ways to express their frustrations. Those who complete both days of the training will receive a certificate and incentives for participating.

To join the workshop, a frontline worker must fill out a registration form and submit it by email, in a drop-box, or in person at the office. This initiative is designed to support the mental health and well-being of young people from the Island Lake region—including St. Theresa Point, Garden Hill, Red Sucker Lake, and Wasagamack—who are currently living in the city.
