A winter weather system is expected to bring snow and strong winds to St. Thomas, Ontario, starting the evening of February 24, 2026. According to Environment Canada, the community could see five centimetres of snow and wind gusts up to 50 kilometres per hour, which may make roads slippery and reduce visibility.
The City of St. Thomas will have crews out salting and plowing throughout the storm. Workers plan to prioritize clearing critical areas first, including steep hills, curves, intersections, and railroad crossings.
To help crews clear the roads, residents are reminded that the overnight parking ban is in effect between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. The City of St. Thomas requires all vehicles to be off the streets during these hours to allow plows to pass safely.
The weather could also affect morning travel for students on Wednesday. Local school buses have already been cancelled three times this month because of poor road conditions and low visibility.
With temperatures expected to feel like minus 14 tonight, officials are encouraging everyone to leave extra time for their morning commute. The snow and blowing wind are expected to last until after midnight before the system moves out of the area.
