The St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank is holding a drive‑thru donation event today, January 26, 2026, to help families in St. Thomas, Ontario. Volunteers are collecting food and winter clothing from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Curtis Street access point (the drive‑thru lane near the intersection of Curtis Street and John Street) to assist residents affected by a recent mid‑January winter storm and related utility disruptions.

Organizers are asking for easy‑to‑prepare items such as canned stews/soups (pop‑top preferred), peanut butter, cereal, and canned protein like tuna. They are also accepting heavy coats, boots, waterproof mitts or gloves, thermal socks, and insulated blankets to help neighbours stay warm during the freezing weather.

Donors can remain in their vehicles while volunteers unload items at the drive‑thru lane. Local coverage by the St. Thomas Times‑Journal and 94.1 St.ThomasToday has documented the sharp rise in demand at the food bank — it served 24,949 clients in 2024 (nearly 25,000).

Residents who need food or clothing assistance can visit the main office at 24 John Street during regular hours (Monday–Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.). The St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank’s website states that anyone seeking help should bring identification for all family members and verification of address (for example, a rent or utility receipt).
