A 30-year-old man from St. Thomas, Ontario, was arrested on February 9, 2026, after a dispute on Miller Street turned into a criminal confrontation. The St. Thomas Police Service responded to the residential address and ultimately charged the man with making death threats and resisting arrest.

Officers were originally at the home for an unrelated matter when they were asked to help remove two people who were not allowed on the property. One of the men became verbally aggressive toward the officers and building staff before threatening to kill a police officer.

The man tried to run away on foot after making the threat, but officers caught and arrested him a short distance away. He is now charged with uttering threats to cause death, resisting a peace officer, and failing to leave a property when told to do so.

No injuries were reported during the incident, and the man was later released with a future court date. This arrest follows a busy year for the St. Thomas Police Service, which responded to 2,211 mental health-related calls in 2025.

To help manage these types of calls, the police department is currently working with the Canadian Mental Health Association and the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital to add more clinical support to their emergency response teams.
