Environment Canada issued a blowing snow advisory for the Rural Municipality of Ste. Anne, Manitoba, on February 27, 2026. This alert, which also covers the community of Richer, warns residents about dangerous travel conditions that began early Friday morning.

Wind gusts between 60 and 80 kilometres per hour are expected to create near-zero visibility for drivers. These conditions are making travel hazardous on local roads and may lead to significant delays for people driving to and from work.

Temperatures are forecast to drop quickly from a morning high of -3°C down to -15°C by the afternoon. Wind chills are expected to reach -34°C overnight, creating a high risk of frostbite for anyone who might become stranded in their vehicle.

The blowing snow could cause road closures on major routes like the Trans-Canada Highway. Local organizations, including the Seine River School Division, often cancel bus service during these conditions to keep students safe.

Residents are encouraged to avoid travel that is not necessary until the weather improves. The blowing snow is expected to continue throughout the day before conditions get better during the overnight period.
