Registration for the 2026 Spring Breakfast Club opened on Feb. 3, 2026 in Ste. Anne, Manitoba, to give local children extra time to practice their skills on the ice. The program allows young players to continue skating and staying active as the regular winter hockey season comes to a close.
The Ste. Anne Minor Hockey Association (SAMHA), in partnership with the Town of Ste. Anne, is organizing the sessions, which will be held in the early morning at the Maurice Chaput Arena. Each practice session focuses on basic skills such as skating and puck handling and is followed by a healthy breakfast for participants before they head to school.
Local leaders have publicly supported the initiative as a productive way for kids to start their morning with both exercise and a nutritious meal. Local news has reported the town councilhas backed the program in the past, with Mayor Yvan St. Vincent saying council supports the idea and that the town has taken steps to keep minor hockey rates below regional averages and has provided donations to help offset breakfast costs.
The program follows Hockey Manitoba guidance for “Breakfast Clubs,” and Hockey Manitoba has offered grant support for such programs (for 2025-2026, Hockey Manitoba listed $250 grants for new Breakfast Clubs and $100 for established clubs). This years sessions also coincide with increased regional interest in youth sports connected to the 2026 Manitoba Winter Games.
Families interested in signing up their children can register through the association’s online registration portals (SAMHA commonly uses TeamSnap/TeamLinkt) on the Ste. Anne Minor Hockey Association site. The on-ice portion of the program is expected to begin in late March and run through the spring months, though the exact start date is typically finalized after the regular season and may be affected by arena availability or extended playoff runs; parents should confirm the precise schedule with the SAMHA registrar.
