The Steinbach Regional Secondary School Sabres hockey team advanced to the quarterfinals of the regional playoffs after a 6-1 victory over the Shaftesbury Titans in Winnipeg on February 12, 2026. This win secured a two-game sweep in the opening playoff round following a 4-0 shutout in the series opener.
According to Steinbach Regional Secondary School, the team recently completed the winningest regular season in the history of the program. Leading scorer Jager Bueckert helped secure the latest win by scoring two goals during the game.
Goaltender Kash Amor also played a major role in the series, allowing only one goal over the two preliminary round games. Other teammates, including Peyton Froese and Kyler Verestiuk, added early goals to help the team take a lead against the Titans.
The Sabres will now face the CJS Olympiens for the first game of the quarterfinal series on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. The match begins at 4:00 p.m. and will be held at the Southeast Event Centre in Steinbach.
