Families in Stellarton can head to the William M. (WM) Sobey Indoor Sports Complex this evening, Sunday, January 25, 2026, for a volunteer-run Family Fun Night of indoor games and activities. The event is designed to give local children and caregivers a place to play during the cold winter months.
The program is organized by local volunteers in coordination with the Town of Stellarton Recreation Department and the Highland District Soccer Association (HDSA). Activities typically begin between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the complex at 120 Old Foxbrook Road.
Participants can expect inflatable play structures and various games set up on the turf. Recent upgrades to the facility’s flooring — removable turf covers that allow non-cleated activities — have improved accessibility for residents who use mobility aids or wheelchairs.
Admission to the event is traditionally free or by donation to help keep community recreation affordable for everyone. The Town of Stellarton uses these nights to encourage physical activity and to make use of the sports facility outside of its primary soccer schedule.
For safety, the turf area is generally limited to about 200–300 participants during active-play events. This Family Fun Night follows recent government investments in local multi-purpose hubs, including a July 2024 federal announcement to convert the former Stellarton Memorial Rink into the Stellarton Memorial Community Centre under the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings program. Attendees should check the Town of Stellarton website or the WM Sobey Indoor Sports Complex social channels for any updates, exact start times, pre-registration information, or capacity notices.
