Children and teenagers in Stettler, Alberta, can head to the local library this weekend for a competitive video game event. On February 7, 2026, the Stettler Public Library is hosting a Super Smash Bros. tournament to give local youth a safe place to hang out and play games.

The event is free for anyone aged six and older and takes place on the second floor of the library from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This weekend marks the return of the gaming program after a session earlier this year was cancelled in January.

Players will use the library’s Nintendo Switch console to compete for bragging rights and small prizes. Library manager Rhonda O’Neill has previously stated that these events help the facility act as a community hub for residents who might not usually visit just to borrow books.

The tournament is part of an ongoing effort to offer more digital activities for the community. The Stettler Public Library works with the Town of Stettler and other regional partners to provide these supervised social spaces for kids.

The tournament follows a bracket style, allowing friends to battle each other to see who can stay in the game the longest.
