St. Michael Catholic Secondary School in Stratford, Ontario, is closed today, Monday, January 26, 2026, after a major winter storm brought heavy snow and hazardous driving conditions to the area. The Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board (HPCDSB) has closed all schools and board offices for the day to keep students and staff safe.

The January 2026 North American winter storm dumped roughly 15 to 35 centimetres of snow across parts of Southern Ontario. High winds and poor visibility prompted municipalities to activate major snow-response plans. The storm also caused significant travel disruption — including hundreds of flight cancellations, with more than 500 flights cancelled at Toronto Pearson International Airport.

As a result of the closure, secondary exams scheduled for Monday, Jan. 26, have been postponed. The Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board says those exams will be moved to the board’s designated contingency day(s) in the 2025–26 school calendar.

Families are advised that when cancellations occur exam days typically shift forward by one day; parents and students should confirm the specific make-up arrangements and any transportation changes on the Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board website.
