The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority has launched the 2026 Tree Power program in Stratford, Ontario, to provide residents with affordable native trees. The initiative helps property owners plant more greenery to improve the health of local rivers and increase the area’s tree cover.

The Stratford portion of the program is run in partnership with Festival Hydro and opened for sales on March 2, 2026. Residents can purchase various types of hardwood trees that are grown locally to ensure they thrive in the regional climate.

Other nearby communities have also joined the project this month. The conservation authority started sales for the Municipality of West Perth on March 4, 2026, followed by the Municipality of Thames Centre on March 5, 2026.

By subsidizing the cost of these plants, the program aims to remove financial barriers for homeowners who want to help the environment. These annual sales are often seen by locals as a sign that spring has arrived in the region.
