About a dozen addresses in downtown Summerside, Prince Edward Island, will lose power on Friday morning, June 19, 2026, while city crews carry out emergency repairs. The planned outage runs from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM and affects properties along Water Street, Summer Street, Spring Street, and Fitzroy Street.
The Summerside Electric utility says the work is for emergency customer repairs and will last roughly three hours. The affected area includes the MacNeil Mall block, with power out at 245, 251, 265, 271, 273, and 275 Water Street, 3, 5, 7, and 9 Summer Street, 30 Spring Street, and 251 Fitzroy Street.
During the outage, First Street between Spring Street and Summer Street will be closed to regular traffic. Only emergency vehicles and construction traffic will be allowed through. The City of Summerside posted the outage notice on its social media channels on June 16. The work is weather permitting. Summerside Electric is the city-owned utility that serves local homes and businesses, and it is separate from Maritime Electric, the company that transmits power into the city from New Brunswick.
