According to Environment Canada, Summerside, Prince Edward Island, will see about five centimetres of snow on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, which may cause slippery roads and travel delays. The snow is expected to fall in periods throughout the day, accompanied by winds reaching 20 kilometres per hour that will shift from the south to the northwest in the afternoon.

The City of Summerside is shifting its focus to snow and ice control, making road clearing a top priority for municipal crews. While the high temperature is expected to reach 0°C, a morning wind chill of -12 will make conditions feel much colder for those heading outdoors early in the day.

Families should watch for potential travel changes, as the Public Schools Branch generally announces any school bus delays or cancellations by 6:30 a.m. Drivers and students should plan for extra travel time because the snow is expected to align with the morning commute, creating slippery surfaces and lower visibility.

This snowfall marks the beginning of an unsettled weather pattern that is forecast to continue for several days. There is a 60 per cent chance of flurries and gusty winds expected to persist in the area until Monday, February 23, 2026.
