The Maritime Junior Hockey League released the 2026-27 regular season schedule on July 6, marking the league’s 60th season. For the Summerside Western Capitals, it means a fresh start coming off a run to the national championship final on home ice at Credit Union Place.
The regular season begins Thursday, September 10, 2026, and wraps up Sunday, March 7, 2027. Fans can start planning home dates at Credit Union Place right away, and the schedule is available on the league website.
A highlight on the calendar is a special rivalry weekend set for January 28-31, 2027. During that stretch, each team will play a home-and-home series against a division and geographic rival. The Capitals will face off against the Amherst Ramblers, with one game in Summerside and one in Amherst. It is a chance for fans on both sides to catch some intense Junior A hockey.
The 2026 off-season carries big memories. The Capitals hosted the Centennial Cup in May and reached the championship game before falling 4-1 to the Niverville Nighthawks. Defenceman Simon Mullen earned CJHL Top Defenceman honours for 2025-26 after leading all MHL blueliners with 68 points in 52 games. Mullen, along with teammates like Max Jardine, has since committed to play university hockey, leaving a new group to chase a league title under head coach Billy McGuigan.
The Truro Bearcats enter as defending Metalfab MHL Cup champions and will face the Edmundston Blizzard in a final rematch on October 23. For Capitals fans, the schedule brings those regional matchups against Truro, Amherst, Yarmouth, and others back to Summerside through the winter.
