Classes at Three Oaks Senior High in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, are cancelled for the day on March 12, 2026. The Public Schools Branch issued the closure notice after road conditions across the region failed to improve as early morning forecasts had suggested.
The change from a one-hour delay to a full cancellation also affects schools in the Westisle, Kensington, and Kinkora areas. While many students across the province were initially preparing for a later start, the worsening winter weather led officials to stop all classes for these specific school groups to keep everyone safe.
Because of the closure, all school bus routes and extra activities for these schools are not running today. This decision was made because the roads remained dangerous for travel, making it difficult for buses and families to reach the buildings safely.
The English and French language school boards monitor weather and road safety closely throughout the winter and early spring months. These types of cancellations are a standard part of how the province handles unpredictable weather to ensure that students and staff do not have to travel in hazardous conditions.
