The Summerside Lobster Carnival has announced that its new Raceway Days event will take place from July 15 to July 18, 2026, at Credit Union Place and Red Shores at Summerside Raceway in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. The four-day celebration brings together family-friendly activities and live entertainment to mark a significant milestone: 150 years of harness racing in the community.
This year’s festivities include carnival rides and attractions provided by East Coast Amusements. The event will culminate with the 58th running of the Governor’s Plate, a long-standing harness racing tradition at the track, which was established in 1886 and is believed to be the oldest continuously operating harness racing facility of its kind in Canada.
Summerside Mayor Dan Kutcher described the upcoming event as a celebration of local identity. In a news release, the mayor stated that the milestone brings together the city’s history, people, and community spirit in a way that both residents and visitors can enjoy.
In addition to the racing and midway, the carnival will host traditional lobster and cold plate suppers on July 17 and July 18. Attendees are encouraged to purchase their supper tickets in advance through online channels. Organized by Culture Summerside, the festival continues a tradition that has served as the city’s primary cultural event since its inception in 1956.
