Residents in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, who usually have their trash picked up on Mondays will need to wait a few extra days this month due to the Islander Day holiday. According to the Island Waste Management Corporation, there will be no curbside collection on Monday, February 16, 2026.

To make up for the holiday, the provincial waste agency has set an alternate collection day for Saturday, February 21, 2026. This change affects all materials normally picked up at the curb, including waste carts and blue bags.

Along with the pause in home pickup, all Island Waste Management Corporation offices and Waste Watch Drop-Off Centers will be closed on February 16, 2026. This closure includes the local transfer station located at 175 Industrial Crescent in Summerside.

The service adjustment happens every year to observe the Islander Day public holiday. Residents are encouraged to hold their waste and recycling until the rescheduled pickup on Saturday to avoid overflowing bins or missed collections.
