Monday morning will be cool and windy, with north winds gusting to 60 km/h and temperatures around 9°C. But conditions will clear through the day, leaving mainly sunny skies and a high of 15°C. The UV index is forecast at 7, which Environment Canada rates as high, meaning sun protection is needed if you are outside for long.
The real heat arrives midweek. Wednesday and Thursday will both reach 26°C under a mix of sun and cloud. That is about seven degrees above the usual June high of 19°C for Summerside. No weather alerts are in effect, and skies are expected to stay mostly clear through Thursday.
If you are planning outdoor activities, Environment Canada suggests wearing a wide-brimmed hat, tight-woven clothing, and sunscreen on any exposed skin when the UV index is high. The highest risk for sun exposure is between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The weekend will bring a slight cool-down. Saturday cools to 21°C with a 30 percent chance of showers, while Sunday returns to a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 21°C.
Summerside normally sees milder temperatures in June, thanks to the warm waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. This week’s spike is a short but noticeable jump from the seasonal average, making it a good chance for residents and visitors to enjoy the waterfront, trails, and other local attractions.
