Island athletes looking to test their limits have until June 18 to lock in a lower price and a shot at some serious prizes for the Subaru TriLobster Multi-Sport Festival, returning to Summerside, PEI for its 11th year on August 15 and 16.
Those who register before the early bird deadline are entered to win a travel package worth $485, sponsored by Microtel by Wyndham, Fiveelevenwest, Petro-Canada, and Credit Union Place. Organizers are also dangling an Elves Falath Evo triathlon bike frame valued at $1,700, donated by Knead A Brake, for anyone signed up before August 11.
The ninth annual Subaru TriLobster Triathlon in 2024 brought together close to 200 athletes in Summerside and was termed a resounding success by organizers. The 2026 edition is expected to build on that momentum, with 141 participants already registered as of June 16, according to the event’s Race Roster page.
The festival isn’t just a local draw. It offers world qualifier spots for the 2027 Multisport World Championships in Edmonton, Alberta (July 16-25, 2027) and the 2027 Triathlon World Championships in Hamburg, Germany (September 8-12, 2027). Qualifying spots are up for grabs in seven events: the Neil Robertson Standard Triathlon Memorial Race (2 spots), Long Course Triathlon (3 spots), Standard Duathlon (2 spots), Sprint Triathlon (1 spot), Sprint draft-legal Duathlon (2 spots), Long Course Aquabike (3 spots), and Aquathlon (1 spot).
The memorial race honours Neil Robertson, who passed away in 2022 and is remembered as the founding father of triathlon on PEI. Robertson was one of the first Islanders to complete a full Ironman distance race and was one of the original inductees into the Triathlon PEI Builder’s Category in 2012.
The weekend kicks off Saturday, August 15 with the Knead a 5K Brake Fun Run at 11:00 AM. Sunday’s main events start early with the Long Course Triathlon at 6:15 AM, followed by the Draft Legal Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon at 7:30 AM, Standard events at 8:45 AM, Sprint Non-Draft events at 10:00 AM, and Super Sprint events at 11:00 AM.
The Subaru TriLobster Multi-Sport Festival is organized by Triathlon PEI, with title sponsorship from Subaru of Charlottetown and support from more than 30 local businesses and organizations.
