The Town of Sylvan Lake has extended a road closure on Westview Drive to allow for necessary sewer main repairs. The section of the road between 164 and 172 Westview Drive is closed to traffic on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

The closure was originally slated for April 1, 2026, but the road reopened briefly that evening before crews required additional time to complete the work. Motorists in the area are advised to plan for alternate routes while these repairs are underway.

This work is part of a broader, ongoing effort to maintain the community’s aging infrastructure. According to the town, much of the local water and sewer system is over 35 years old and requires significant, long-term upgrades. Replacing these utility lines is a major project, with costs estimated at approximately $500,000 per kilometer. These repairs are funded through utility rates rather than property taxes.

Residents can find the most current information on local construction by checking the Town News Hub. Because construction schedules are tentative and can change depending on weather conditions, the town recommends checking this page for real-time updates.

Infrastructure upgrades are a central part of the town’s planning this year. On March 24, 2026, Sylvan Lake Town Council unanimously approved the 2026 budget, which includes funding for water and wastewater improvements alongside other transportation and community projects.
