The Town of Sylvan Lake Public Works Department will close one lane of traffic at 4615 50 Street on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. Work is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m.
Residents, delivery drivers and commuters in the area should expect traffic delays and possible restrictions while crews work. The location is on a critical north–south arterial corridor that connects residential neighbourhoods with the downtown waterfront and business district; traffic will be reduced to a single lane and flaggers or temporary traffic control may be in place.
The repairs are part of the town’s proactive approach to maintaining its water and wastewater systems, which are largely over 35 years old. The town’s 2025 capital budget included $10.5 million for utility and waste services, and the work aligns with the 50 Street redevelopment planning to replace aging underground infrastructure before it fails.
Public Works will manage traffic through the work area. The town advises drivers to allow extra travel time or use alternate routes while repairs are underway.
