A brand-new Nara Baby Bassinet has arrived at the Taber Health Centre in Taber, Alberta, fully funded by local Blizzard lovers.
The Taber & District Health Foundation announced the arrival on August 26, 2026, crediting the Taber Dairy Queen’s Blizzard Day fundraiser on May 29. Community members bought enough Blizzards to raise $4,650, which covered the full cost of the new equipment.
“We are celebrating the arrival of a brand-new Nara Baby Bassinet at the Taber Health Centre, fully funded through the incredible support of Taber Dairy Queen’s Blizzard Day,” the Foundation said.
Labour & Delivery staff at the hospital have already noticed the difference. The new bassinet offers improved sanitary control, smooth mobility, built-in storage, and better visibility for postpartum care. Those are practical upgrades for a maternity unit that is seeing a lot more action.
Local births have jumped by more than 200 percent in recent years, putting pressure on existing resources for new families in Taber and surrounding communities.
“With local births increasing by more than 200% in recent years, the new bassinet comes at a crucial time,” the Foundation noted.
The Taber & District Health Foundation is a registered charity that raises money for essential equipment at the Taber Health Centre, serving Taber and nearby communities like Barnwell, Grassy Lake, Enchant, Hays, the M.D. of Taber, and Vauxhall.
