Residents in the Rural Municipality of Taché, Manitoba, are facing dangerous driving conditions this morning after Environment Canada issued a fog advisory on February 12, 2026. The weather agency warns that visibility has dropped to near zero in communities like Lorette, Ste-Geneviève, and Landmark, making it very difficult for motorists to see the road ahead.

The thick fog is expected to cause delays for local traffic and the Seine River School Division bus network. Drivers are encouraged to slow down, use their vehicle lights, and leave extra space between cars while travelling on major routes like the Trans-Canada Highway and Highway 206. Local safety experts warn that in addition to low visibility, the fog can leave a layer of frost on the pavement, creating “black ice” conditions that make stopping at rural intersections difficult.

According to Manitoba 511, road conditions may be hazardous throughout the morning. Residents are encouraged to check the latest road reports before heading out and to exercise extreme caution on the Dawson Trail and other high-speed commuter routes.

Weather experts expect the fog to lift and visibility to improve by the early afternoon as temperatures change. Until then, commuters should stay alert for sudden changes in weather conditions during their morning drives.
