Students from Landmark Collegiate in the Rural Municipality of Taché, Manitoba, are joining the Manitoba Regional High School Ethics Bowl circuit for the first time — the first entry from the RM of Taché — this February. The move marks a new chapter for the school as it prepares to face teams from larger neighbouring communities to discuss difficult social and moral issues.
Regional matches involving the local team are scheduled for the week of Feb. 9 6, 2026, according to the regional schedule. The Manitoba Regional High School Ethics Bowl, organized by the Manitoba Association for Rights and Liberties (MARL), emphasizes collaborative analysis of ethical cases rather than an adversarial, win/lose debate format.
The team, composed of approximately five to seven students, will compete against Hanover School Division schools including Niverville High School and Steinbach Regional Secondary School. While Landmark is a smaller school, its entry into the competition follows a period of growth and community investment in the RM of Taché documented in municipal reporting and local coverage.
Students have been preparing for months by studying the regional case set, which typically includes topics such as climate change, artificial intelligence, and municipal policy. If the Landmark team performs well in regional matches, they could advance to the national championships, which are scheduled to be hosted in Winnipeg in April 2026 (venue to be confirmed by Ethics Bowl Canada).
