Residents in Taché, Manitoba, should prepare for periods of snow and windy conditions starting Tuesday, February 17, 2026, which may lead to hazardous driving. The upcoming weather is expected to cause blowing snow and drifts that could result in delays for school buses and local deliveries.

According to Environment Canada, the area will see periods of snow and wind on Tuesday with a high of -1°C. This weather is forecast to continue through Wednesday, February 18, 2026, as temperatures drop to a high of -7°C. At night, the temperature could reach -14°C with a 60 per cent chance of flurries.

The Seine River School Division monitors road conditions and visibility when deciding whether to cancel school buses. Because the local landscape is open prairie, wind can quickly blow snow across roads and make it very difficult for drivers to see, even during moderate snowfall.

The Rural Municipality of Taché public works department typically needs about 18 hours to open all municipal roads once an average snowstorm ends. Municipal staff and equipment are dispatched based on meteorological forecasts and road conditions to ensure priority routes are passable.

As of February 13, 2026, the region is already experiencing a weather advisory for fog with near-zero visibility reported. Residents are encouraged to check local road reports and allow for extra travel time as the new weather system arrives next week.
