The Bibliothèque Taché Library in Lorette, Manitoba, is hosting a weekly Métis beading circle every Tuesday evening throughout February 2026. This drop-in program takes place from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Bibliothèque Taché Library, located at 1082 Dawson Road in Lorette.
Organized in partnership with the Lorette Métis Local, the circle is led by Métis beadwork artist Melanie Gamache of Borealis Beading. The group is open to all ages and skill levels, offering a space to learn about the history of the Red River Métis, traditionally known as the Flower Beadwork People.
Participants do not need to bring their own materials; starter kits containing beads, needles and felt are provided. The program encourages community members to share stories and connect with their neighbours while working on their crafts.
According to the Manitoba Métis Federation, these circles help preserve cultural heritage and keep local traditions alive. The initiative is part of the library’s expanded winter programming at its Dawson Road location.
