Residents in Tecumseh, Ontario, are dealing with thick fog this morning after Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a fog advisory on February 17, 2026. This alert replaces an earlier yellow air quality warning that had been in place for the Windsor-Essex region since Sunday, February 15.

The fog has made it very difficult to see on local roads, with visibility dropping to 0.4 kilometres at Windsor Airport early Tuesday morning. Because of the dangerous driving conditions, all school board-provided transportation in Essex County has been cancelled. However, school buses within the City of Windsor remained operational on Tuesday.

The dense mist persisted as air quality began to improve following several days of stagnant weather. According to Air Quality Ontario, pollution levels in downtown Windsor reached a “High Risk” (Level 8) on February 16, 2026, amid the stagnant conditions that preceded the transition to the current fog advisory.

Safety officials, including the Ontario Provincial Police, are asking drivers to use their low-beam headlights and slow down while traveling through the area. Drivers should also leave extra space between vehicles, as the fog is expected to cause sudden drops in visibility until it begins to clear after 9:00 AM EST.
