Firefighters from two stations responded to the Harbour Club at 14400 Tecumseh Rd E in Tecumseh, Ontario, on the evening of Jan. 24, 2026, after reports of smoke in the building’s underground parking garage. The response involved crews from both of the town’s fire stations.

Crews from Tecumseh Fire Rescue Service used thermal imaging cameras to search for heat sources and set up high-powered fans to clear smoke from the parking area. No active fire was found during the sweep, and no injuries were reported to residents or emergency personnel.

The site was formerly a factory and was redeveloped as the Harbour Club condominiums by Petretta Construction Inc. Investigators are examining whether the smoke was caused by a mechanical failure in the building’s ventilation or fire-safety systems, or by an issue with a vehicle in the garage — including the possibility of an electric vehicle battery-related incident, which has been a recent concern in Ontario garage fires.

Tecumseh Fire Rescue Service reminded residents to treat smoke alarms in multi-unit buildings as active threats until a building has been cleared by professionals.
