Tecumseh town council is pushing ahead with upgrades to the Lesperance Multi-Use Trail and has launched a study of local drains following its May 26 meeting.
Council received a presentation from Aaron Blata of RC Spencer Associates Inc. on bringing complete streets features to Lesperance Road from Laramie Street to Riverside Drive. The plan builds on the ongoing $2.6-million multi-use trail project, which resumed construction in mid-April and had its hardscape work finished by May 12. Ongoing restoration includes tree planting and streetscaping. The federal government is covering 45 percent of eligible costs up to $466,000 through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
In a separate move, council appointed Mark Hernandez, P.Eng. of Dillon Consulting Ltd. as drainage engineer to examine the Baillargeon Drain, Cyr & Extension Drains and the East Townline Drain (St. Clair Outlet). The review follows a landowner’s request for drainage improvements dated April 2, and a report will be prepared under Section 78 of the Drainage Act.
The trail work, which stretches from Valente Court to Riverside Drive and along Little River Boulevard to Gauthier Drive, is part of Tecumseh’s Transportation Master Plan goal of making streets safer for all users.
