The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) has opened a February 2026 recruitment drive seeking leadership volunteers in Tecumseh, Ontario, to help organize the regional CIBC Run for the Cure for Windsor–Essex. While the main Run is not until October 2026 (expected Sunday, October 4, 2026), the organization is recruiting now for committee roles that will manage fundraising, safety and race routes.

Committee (leadership) positions require volunteers to be at least 19 years of age and involve a multi-month commitment to planning the regional fundraiser from February through October. Volunteers on the Run Committee handle tasks such as securing municipal permits, coordinating participant safety and organizing local activations at community venues like Lakewood Park in the Town of Tecumseh.

The Windsor–Essex regional Run has been active for more than two decades and has raised more than $3.7 million locally since its inception, funds that support breast cancer research and local support programs. Those programs serve Canadians affected by the disease — about 1 in 8 Canadian women are expected to develop breast cancer in their lifetime.

Interested residents can apply for committee (leadership) or run-day roles through the CCS volunteer portal (MyImpactPage/Better Impact). By joining the local Run Committee, volunteers become the primary organizers who make the Windsor–Essex site of this large, volunteer-led national fundraiser possible.
