The Tecumseh Thunder started the Can-Am League playoff round-robin with a 9-3 win over the Windsor Athletics on Saturday, July 26, 2026, at Lacasse Park in Tecumseh, Ontario. Chris Horvath picked up the win on the mound and Cam Goddard hit a home run to power the Thunder to a 1-0 record in the tournament.
Horvath, a right-handed pitcher from Belle River, turned in a strong performance to shut down the Athletics. Goddard, a Windsor native and career .368 hitter over 160 games with the Thunder, provided the big blow with his home run. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound outfielder and first baseman has been a consistent offensive force for Tecumseh.
The Athletics fell to 0-2 in the playoffs with the loss. Cole Hillier took the loss for Windsor, which struggled through the regular season with a 2-13 record. The Thunder finished second in the regular season at 10-7.
The Can-Am League, founded in 1993 by Canadian Baseball Hall of Famer Bernie Soulliere, features teams from the Windsor, Tecumseh, and Detroit areas. The Thunder have been a dominant force in Ontario senior baseball, winning five straight provincial championships.
