Residents of The Pas, Manitoba, are navigating a fast-moving winter storm that began Thursday night, bringing significant snow and difficult travel conditions to the region. According to Environment Canada and the Manitoba Weather Centre, the system—an Alberta clipper—moved into the area between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM on February 26, 2026.
The storm is projected to drop between 10 and 20 centimetres of snow across central and northern parts of the province. Forecasters expect the heaviest snowfall to hit the corridor between Flin Flon and The Pas throughout the night and into the morning of Friday, February 27, 2026.
Local drivers are facing slippery roads and low visibility, which are expected to make the Friday morning commute much slower than usual. The Manitoba Weather Centre, an independent group operated by Justin Oertel, Rae Oertel, and Michael McGregor that tracks regional weather, warns that these fast-moving storms can quickly change road safety conditions.
Officials recommend that anyone outdoors or travelling on the highway stay alert for delays as snow continues to accumulate. The heaviest impact is expected on major routes, including Highway 10, which serves as a critical link for commuters and travellers in the northern corridor.
