Residents and businesses in The Pas, Manitoba, may find it difficult to reach town offices on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, as the municipal government performs a scheduled migration to a new phone system. The upgrade will affect several services, including the Town Office, Public Works and the Utilities (Water and Sewer).

The Town of The Pas originally planned to complete the change earlier in the month but deferred the final cutover to allow additional testing after intermittent connectivity problems during a preliminary phase that began Jan. 28. The migration was rescheduled to Feb. 12 to reduce the risk of total outages during business hours.

Officials warned the primary contact line listed with Manitoba 211 — the Town Office main line at (204) 627-1100 — may be unavailable or experience “ghost” ringing while technicians perform the cutover. Residents with non-urgent questions are asked to visit the Town Office in person at 81 Edwards Ave or to use email for the day.

A local news report noted the migration began on Jan. 28, 2026, and that intermittent outages or dropped calls have occurred during the preliminary work. Town officials say they delayed the final cutover to allow extra testing and to ensure emergency lines remain a priority. Mayor Andre Murphy and the Town Council approved the budget allocation for the upgrade to improve communications among town departments.

Residents can find additional updates about local service changes as the transition proceeds on The Pas Online News and the Town of The Pas website. Normal phone service is expected to return once the technical team finishes setting up and testing the new digital/VoIP lines.
