Residents in The Pas, Manitoba, should prepare for slippery roads and sidewalks as freezing drizzle and much warmer air move into the region starting Tuesday afternoon, February 3, 2026. This weather shift follows a period of extreme cold and is expected to create dangerous travel conditions through the middle of the week.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a Freezing Drizzle Advisory because light precipitation is expected to freeze on contact with surfaces that remain below freezing. This will likely create a thin, nearly invisible layer of ice on highways and walkways that can be very difficult for drivers to spot.

The change comes after a January deep freeze that saw temperatures drop near -40°C across the Prairies. By Wednesday, February 4, 2026, the temperature in The Pas is forecast to reach a high of about +1°C — a jump of roughly 13–16°C above the usual early-February high of about -12°C to -15°C.

Drivers are encouraged to check Manitoba 511 for the latest updates on road conditions, especially for those travelling on Highway 10. While the warmer air offers a break from the cold, the mix of freezing drizzle, ice and melting snow will keep surfaces slick until pavements have time to warm up.
